e-WATCHER Nanzi's environment

The e-WATCHER project aims to build a healthy and sustainable Nanzih with our watch and care. First, we cooperate with North Kaohsiung Sustainable Cities Alliance to perform floating garden experimental project. We successfully obtained the support of neighboring communities and schools so that the project could move forward. Later we met the second group of partners - Cuiping Water Environment Patrol Team. Our students accompany the patrol team to collect water samples, check the water quality in real-time, and we responded to the joint clean stream activity. We have also initiated USR*CSR cooperation with Fubon Life Insurance and jointly organized the Ecological Observation Activity of Houjin Creek with North Kaohsiung Community University.

Environmental education has always been a vital project of this plan. In schools, we combine service education with environmental protection and incorporate the USR into practical topics and other courses. In the community, we link partner schools and introduce environmental sustainability issues to let students understand the hazard of pollution. In addition, we cooperate with the public health center to continuously raise air quality and health promotion lectures in the community.

Assisting in the improvement of indoor air quality in campuses and communities is another focus of this project. Under the dual threats of COVID-19 and air pollution, we assist campuses in monitoring indoor air quality and optimizing the operation and maintenance of the dual-machine (air condition and air cleaner) system. We assess the carbon dioxide concentration in the classrooms, provide timely guidelines for improving ventilation during the pandemic prevention period. We cooperate with Nanzih Public Health Center to coordinate air monitoring in high-risk locations and propose improvements to reduce the risk of COVID-19.

Our effort has not yet written an end. The story of environmental regeneration and sustainability will continue to grow stronger.
